Google’s Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst John Mueller responded to a tweet that asked about duplicate content when migrating a website.

Here is the question

I’m retiring a site but re-using some content. I don’t want it to be consider duplicate content. If no pages of the site display when I search “site:http://0ldwebsite.com” does that mean it’s not in the index, and I can safely use the content?

John’s Mueller’s reply

There’s no need to worry about duplicate content if you’re migrating it from one site to another.

Here is the tweet

This concludes that you no longer have to worry about content duplication during website migration. Watch out our news blog for more such news related to SEO
